The Write Hours is a combination of writing time and a writers workshop. Through her own experience of teaching creative writing and being a participant in writers groups, Alice Kinsella has developed The Write Hours format to maximise the benefits of the group creative dynamic.
It's difficult to find time to write. Writing together in a room with others improves focus and productivity. The accountability of the group allows us to dedicate an hour each week to creating new work, without getting distracted by the never ending to-do list of the modern world.
A key step in bringing your writing from your own notebook to the public is sharing with peers. Writers workshops are safe environments to try out ideas and to improve your craft.
Each week participants will be given a writing prompt followed by time to write. We will then have a writers workshop during which you will receive verbal and written feedback on a piece of writing.
Participants of the Write Hours will gain:
- Inspiration and time to write.
- Skills to give feedback and to edit their own work.
- Detailed personalised written feedback from Alice.
- A community of writers to share and critique each other's work.
We request you bring 10 copies of a piece of work you would like workshopped each week. You are welcome to share verbally, but written feedback will only be provided on print outs.
The Write Hours will be facilitated by Alice Kinsella. It is ideal for writers of all stages who are keen to set aside time to write and receive feedback.
