About the host:

Una Gildea’s art practice spans multiple mediums, including animation, collage and watercolour. Over the past few years she has developed a passion for storytelling through visual art. Her most recent work explores themes revolving around childhood recollections and that intersection of memory and the present, where past experiences subtly resurface, intertwining with the narratives of today.

Humour is important and surfaces naturally in her work.

Gildea studied Painting, Drawing and Printmaking at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and animation at the University of the West of England; she also studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York.

Her work has been widely exhibited and her animation films have been selected and screened at international film festivals.
Her work is in the collections of Dublin City University, the Irish Contemporary Art Society and numerous private collections.
