Rising 2024 - The Prism of My Landscape Luisne Art Project

Thursday 28 November 2024 - Saturday 1 February 2025

Luisne Art Project is a highly successful, nationally recognised arts programme for people with disabilities, based in Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo. This partnership project was initiated in December 2005 and is supported by Mayo County Council Arts Office and Western Care with administrative support provided by Tacú, Ballinrobe Family Resource Centre.

For this exhibition the Luisne artists have worked with their facilitator Noreen Lydon and artist Michael Gannon, exploring techniques inspired by light, land and sea. They also worked with Michael using photographic techniques that are over two hundred years old.
This body of work has been supported by the UPSTART 2024 programme.

Art has long been a means of expression for individuals with differing abilities, allowing them to communicate their thoughts, emotions and experiences in many different and unique ways, and through various mediums. This exhibition, featuring the work of Luisne artists is a celebration of the achievements of the participants. It serves to foster inclusivity and understanding within the community.

The artists are Collette Moran, Geradine McDonagh, Mairead Coyne, John Walsh, Eoin Karney, Triona McEvaddy and Aisling Walsh.

All the artwork is for sale - each piece is €40.

Thank you to Mary Jackson and team at TACÚ Family Resource Centre, to Mayo Arts Service and Western Care for ongoing support and to MSLETB and UPSTART for supporting this project. Thank you also all at Linenhall Arts Centre for hosting the exhibition.
