We Are the Poets – Young Mayo Poets this Friday (15 Nov) at the Linenhall Arts Centre

Fourteen Mayo teenagers have been flexing their creative muscles at the Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, over the last couple of months as part of a project called “We are the Poets”. It culminates this coming Friday 15th November with a performance featuring the young poets alongside Laureate na nÓg Sarah Crossan, multi-award winning poet Colm Keegan and Mayo poet Alice Kinsella as MC.

New Linenhall Arts Centre Membership Scheme

Fighting Words, Mayo and the Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar are running a Young Playwrights’ Programme from 5 October 2019 to 9 April 2020. The programme comprises a series of workshops (approximately one per month) during which participants will work towards creating a 10 minute play, gaining lots of tips and guidance on the play writing process from Fighting Words mentors along the way. During the programme there will be opportunities for the participants to attend a number of theatre shows at the Linenhall Arts Centre. The programme will culminate with a professional theatre director and a number of professional actors delivering a rehearsed reading of each play on stage at the Linenhall for an invited audience.
