Eligibility: Applicants must be 18 years of age or over, as the role may involve working in areas where alcohol is served.

Hourly Rate:
€14.10

Hours:
Hours of attendance will be variable, with no guarantee that hours will be offered to you on a weekly basis. Working hours are typically in the evening during the week with occasional weekend hours. Hours will vary depending on the Event.

The Linenhall is a thriving arts centre located in Castlebar which serves the people of Mayo and beyond with a vibrant programme of theatre, music, dance, visual arts, film and workshops for children and adults of all ages.

Role Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Front of House Usher. Reporting to the General Manager, the usher plays a key role in ensuring audience safety, comfort and an exceptional customer experience.

This role involves interacting with guests, visiting artists and staff, while supporting the smooth operation and presentation of performances and workshops.

Key Responsibilities

-Audience Welcome & Customer Service: Greet audiences and visitors in a professional, friendly and approachable manner.
-Check and scan tickets, assist patrons with seating and provide information on venue facilities and accessibility services.
-Support visitors with access requirements and respond to queries.

Event Operations

-Assist with audience seating and latecomer procedures before and during performances.
-Monitor the auditorium to ensure audience safety and comfort, enforcing house policies as needed.
-Assist with programme distribution, audience flow and venue reset between events.
-Set up and reset rooms and theatre spaces, maintain cleanliness and manage lost property.
-Support visiting artists in the greenroom, ensuring refreshments are stocked.

Venue Presentation & Health & Safety

-Ensure all public areas, including foyers, corridors and the auditorium, are clean, safe and presentable.
-Keep walkways and exits clear at all times.
-Follow health and safety policies, assist with emergency evacuations and support visitors with mobility or accessibility needs.
-Report maintenance issues, hazards, or incidents promptly and complete performance reports after each event.

Essential Requirements

-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-Friendly, professional and approachable manner with members of the public.
-Ability to remain calm and helpful in busy or high-pressure environments.
-Reliable, punctual and flexible.
-Availability to work evenings and weekends.
-Ability to stand for extended periods, work in dimly lit auditorium spaces and perform manual handling tasks, including lifting and moving tables, chairs and other furniture.

Desirable Requirements

-Experience in customer service, hospitality or events.
-Interest in theatre, arts or cultural events.
-Awareness of accessibility and inclusive customer service practices.

-Garda Vetting will be provided
-This role offers opportunities for skills development and progression, with experienced team members potentially taking on additional duties and supporting the wider Front of House operation.
