How To Collaborate

with Patrick Dexter & Clare O'Donnell

Saturday, 8 November 2025
11am - 5pm

Free. Advanced Booking Essential. U21s event

Do you write? Do you play music? Are you curious about how to take the next step and collaborate on creative projects? Join us for a workshop facilitated by composer/performers Patrick Dexter and Clare O'Donnell.

In this workshop participants will explore new and existing ideas both individually and collectively. We will be inspired by music, spoken word, written word & imagery. Our intention is the creation of a space to work with different artistic elements in an enjoyable day of collective making. We will also have a discussion about the experience of life as a professional artist/maker/creator.

This event has limited capacity.
It is designed for young adults aged between 15 - 21 years.

If possible, we ask that each participant submit some piece of creative work or an idea as a springboard for the day. (Note; this need not be a 'completed piece' at all- a few lines of writing, a piece of music- original or otherwise).

This event is supported by EXCEL Youth Arts from Mayo Arts Office.

About the facilitators

Patrick Dexter

Patrick’s cello sings amongst the nature outside his old stone cottage. The wild Atlantic breeze takes the warm sound up into the hills and out to the ocean. Patrick’s diverse repertoire of Irish traditional, classical and modern pop music, is all played with passion and virtuosic intensity. ”Incredible, tender, powerful, raw, passionate, sensual, just perfect! Oscar winning songwriter Markéta Irglová

In 2020, as countries around the world began to lock down, Patrick began playing music from his cottage and sharing it online. Since then his performances have been viewed millions of times and his music became a needed comfort for countless numbers of people all over the world.

Patrick has performed on CNN, BBC, ITV, Sky News, Global News Canada, RTÉ, Virgin Media, TG4. In April 2022 his debut album Solace reached No. 15 in the Billboard US and Canada album charts for classical-crossover albums making Patrick the highest selling independent artist in the genre and asserting his place as one of the world’s best known cello players.
Patrick has also in recent years developed a name for himself as a prolific composer and music producer. Since 2021, Patrick has composed for film productions by County Hall Arts in London where his talent for composing music with guitar and orchestra has risen to new heights.
