Creative Coffee with John Brady

John Brady paints about the places he has been and things that he has seen. While travelling in India at the age of 21 he discovered the intimate world that can evolve in a sketchbook and how it can act as a means of negotiating the world. This discovery led to a lifetime obsession with sketchbooks and the filling of hundreds of them in the following three decades.

His sketch books form the departure point for a body of work that ranges from the intimate and contemplative to the expressive and monumental. Memories that have be delicately preserved in the pages of the sketchpad, years later find new form in a monumental sculpture or a miniature tempera study or any number of materials. The ‘memory repository’ of the hundreds of sketch books provides an endless source of authentic relations to his past, and scope for invention in the present.

Creative Coffee is a monthly event for artists interested in connecting with others, in a relaxed and welcoming space. Artists of all disciplines and interests are invited to attend.Local creatives are invited to gather and get inspired! In these challenging times, Creative Coffee aims to give artists a chance to re-energise amongst their peers. All welcome.
