Paul MacCormaic The Vanquished Writing History

Artists Talk with Paul MacCormaic

Saturday, 11 April 2026
12pm

Join exhibiting artist Paul MacCormaic in the Linenhall gallery for an artists talk where he will discuss his body of work, The Vanquished Writing History, currently in our gallery.

The exhibtion comprises of 13 large-scale portraits of campaigners, or their advocates, who have told their own story, making a positive contribution to Irish society, usually through activism or advocacy or through the courts.

Paul will share insights into his work with these extraordinary subjects and the beautiful, brilliant artwork that conveys magnitudes: 'it is in the artists painting of face and hands, the skin and flesh and bones – the lined and veined faces, [...] the gnarled fingers, the resting hand, the fresh faced cheek, the tired and furrowed brow of age and struggle from the pained to the proud.' The exhibition is available to view at the Linenhall until Sat 11 April. Free entry and all are welcome to the exhibition and talk.
