On the Tibetan plateau, a snow leopard has broken into a pen overnight and killed nine rams belonging to herder Jinpa. An enraged Jinpa has trapped the creature and wants to destroy it, despite it being a protected species, But local police, along with Jinpa’s father and younger brother (a monk who loves photography), want to free the leopard…

Snow Leopard
is the final film of Tibetan-born director Pema Tseden who died unexpectedly in May 2023. Widely recognised as a pioneer of the Tibetan New Wave, Tseden’s films revolve around the clash between traditional values and modern developments in a contemporary Tibet. Snow Leopard also explores these themes through a visually stunning, magically spiritual and ultimately final piece of work.
