Blot on the Landscape Vivian Hansbury

Blot on the Landscape Vivian Hansbury

Saturday 10 June - Saturday 15 July 2023

Blot On The Landscape is a body of work by artist Vivian Hansbury exploring experiences of growing up of mixed race Filipino/Irish in the 70s and 80s in Midlands Ireland. It is a deliberation on feelings of displacement and personal mythology with references to archetypal landscapes and personal memorabilia.

This preoccupation with notions of personal identity as it interweaves with more shared human existence is expressed through a process led approach. The meeting of process and transformation alongside topical conversations regarding environmental concerns are embedded in this body of work.

Hansbury’s ongoing research includes developing use of more sustainable, environmentally gentle materials. The artist’s approach involves combining traditional and experimental processes, such as weaving and cast elements.
