Splendid Isolation with Liam Scanlon
It's Tuesday afternoon and that's means it's time for the next episode in our Splendid Isolation series!
Today we're hearing from traditional artist and percussive dancer Liam Scanlon who's been influenced by, and had a passion for, dance from a very young age. The spontaneity, energy and the ability to free style drew Liam to Sean Nós Dance as a teenager along with the strong connection to traditional music.
Here you'll get to see Liam's current 'dance studio' during isolation and how he's fairing amidst the COVID-19 crisis.
Thanks to Liam for sharing insights into his artistic practice - we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
This series involves interviews with various artists and performers looking at how they are surviving (or thriving!) during the COVID-19 crisis and how their artform has been affected. The series initially started off with artists who had a show/performance rescheduled at the Linenhall as a result of the 2020 lockdown. After a call out on social media asking the Mayo community to suggest or volunteer an artist they would like to hear from during lockdown, the series now has a focus on Mayo artists.
