Poems of Resilience

Poems of Resilience

You can now enjoy the poems created by young people as part of our Poems of Resilience project right here in the one place. The project, led by poet Dani Gill, was part of the Linenhall Arts Centre’s Cruinniú na nÓg activities for 2020.

Two groups of young people aged  11 to 18 years old joined poet Dani Gill on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 May 2020 in workshops entitled Poems of Resilience. The workshops were the Linenhall Arts Centre’s first offerings using the Zoom video conferencing app which enabled shared reading, discussion and reflection on poetry by Naomi Shihab NyeToon TelleganJacob Sam La Rose, and Brendan Kennelly . The participants also considered the process of writing a poem on the theme of resilience, and following the workshop each of them composed a poem. The poems were shared across the Linenhall Arts Centre’s Facebook and Instagram pages on June 13th for Cruinniú na nÓg. Audience reactions included:

“Stunning”
"Perfectly Beautiful, Thank You."
Powerful and Thought Provoking”
“Beautiful”
“Wow…deep”
