Cruinniú na nÓg 2021 takes place on Saturday 12 June. As part of this national day of free creativity for children and young people the Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, invites you and the young people in your life to get creative in your own way through dance, music and visual art.

Cruinniú na nÓg 2021 takes place on Saturday 12 June. As part of this national day of free creativity for children and young people the Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, invites you and the young people in your life to get creative in your own way through dance, music and visual art.

We’ve invited three artists to create short videos to help you get started. We’d love to see what you make and do as a result of watching these videos and we invite you to submit photos, audio recordings, or short video clips of your resulting creations for display on the Linenhall Arts Centre website and social media pages on Saturday 12 June marking Cruinniú na nÓg. Guidelines for submitting work here.

Visual artist Mary Noonan presents 'Ealaín le Bréagáin' / ‘Art with Toys exploring ways to create visual art inspired by and using your toys. (Click here for materials you'll need)

Dancer Catherine Donnelly presents ‘Nature Moves encouraging creative exploration of nature and the garden through movement and dance.

Musician Anthony McNamee presents Funky House encouraging children to get creative making soundscapes with their family using found sounds from around the house.

These videos are designed as inspirational jumping off points, rather than how-to tutorials. You might like to try out what the artists are doing, and we hope the videos will inspire your own new ideas which we encourage you to explore. Feel free to get creative!

We encourage parents and older siblings to watch these videos together with their youngest family members, and join them in getting creative together at home and in nature surroundings.

Note: Materials and objects you choose to work with should be used in a safe way. For movement/dance we recommend wearing appropriate footwear and clothing for the environment and weather you are moving in. Parental supervision is required.

The Linenhall Arts Centre programme is part of the nationwide Cruinniú na nÓg 2021.

The Linenhall Arts Centre acknowledges the support of Creative Ireland Mayo in making this initiative possible
