Great news for the Linenhall!
The Linenhall Arts Centre has made the short list for the IMRO Live Music Venue of the Year 2017. You can show your support by voting for us. Continue reading for more details...
We're delighted, as we have always aimed to provide top quality music events across a whole range of genres for our audiences, and our intimate theatre space (with its highly praised acoustics), plays host to both international performers and homegrown talent. A quick scan of the Spring 2018 programme at the Linenhall confirms this: this week's Music of Mayo event (already BOOKED OUT!) rubs shoulders with the dazzling contemporary jazz of the Trish Clowes Quartet (Wed 7 February), the Classical piano of Mayo-born Darragh Brogan (Wed 14th February) and Russian pianist Anna Tsybuleva (Wed 7 March), folk/roots 5-piece Vickers Vimy (Thu 29 March), the fascinating Trad/folk music/dance fusion of Seosamh Ó Neachtain, Jesse Smith & Lisa O’Neill (Tue 10 April), and Classical guitarist extraordinaire Redmond O'Toole (Thu 12 April). I'll pause for breath here, but rest assured there's lots more in the pipeline. (Click here for even more.)
The Linenhall's nomination came from performing musicians themselves, it's an endorsement that we're really proud to have earned. However, the national award is down to a public vote. We're up against the likes of Vicar Street, Whelans, Róisín Dubh and the Olympia, and we're not starry eyed enough to think we stand a chance of mustering the numbers to win. However, if you feel you'd like to support the nomination and contribute to our head of steam, you can do so by clicking right HERE. All support is gratefully received!
